…Walmart is the largest employer in the United States. Now if we were back in the 1950s, General Motors was the largest employer of the United States. General Motors in today’s dollars was then paying its workers about $50 to $60 an hour. Today, Walmart is paying its average worker, including its part-timers, $8.80 an hour.

But hey, Americans don’t want factory jobs, am I rite? Cause working retail is so much more dignified.

This is why its annoying when people say its sooooooo much more expensive to eat healthy.

YES I AGREE

I’m sorry but cashews a fucking expensive in australia like i love em but i aint buyin em

OKAY

I’ve been seein posts like this so often so lemme lay down the ground rules on why IT ACTUALLY IS EXPENSIVE TO BUY HEALTHY SHIT

Now, I come from a low income family, separated parents, 4 kids including myself. My mom’s a cleaner, my dad pays no-little child support. Rent is more than $500. Of course I’m gonna be a little biased with my lil argument because of our lil hardships and money tightness but I still gotta give y’all a bit of education.

One thing y’all should be aware of is that bills are a fucking thing. Don’t ignore that for the whole “but healthy food is cheap” shit. Take into fucking account that when you are living alone or with a shit ton of people that bills take a fucking SHIT TON of money away from your pool of savings.

Another is that most “unhealthy” families have kids. Kids also need clothes, money for school shit, and just general shit to give them a decent childhood instead of one worrying about the aforementioned bills. If you’re all by yourself, cool, see if you can go healthy, but unhealthy eating exists because from a low-middle class family’s perspective, that shit be cheap and good-tasting.

DID YOU KNOW~???? That at least 1 out of 3 in a few families, age depending, don’t eat food to supply for others???????????? Dude, I do that shit so that my lil bro and sis can eat. If we have a lot of food on hand, I either eat my fill or save that for a rainy day.

Did you also know that while it’s great to have veges and fruits to eat and shit, what constitutes as unhealthy actually isn’t a bad fucking thing???!?! It’s recommended that you eat that all that good shit because of the nutrients BUT ONE CAN STILL BE HEALTHY DESPITE THEIR DIET BEING FUCKING DIFFERENT FROM THE VEGETABLE/MEAT/FRUIT SALAD DEAL. Look at vegetarians and their lack of meat. They have supplements for that shit. Unhealthy eaters like myself can do that same shit.

I’d like to also mention that in America you can buy shit in bulk and cheaper than in Australia where grapes cost an arm and a leg for a kilo (which is why you buy them three and a time for 5c or just eat them right there).

Anyway, I have rambled enough. What I’m trying to say is fucking stop baggin dudes out on eating what they can fucking afford on a fucking budget. If you wanna eat healthy, go ahead, be healthy and live long and prosper and shit but there are some food things that can just supply despite it’s high calorie count that we don’t give a shit about.

Course, this is all from the perspective of myself and is my view on the “expensive unhealthy food” vs “cheap healthy food” battle that keeps fuckin goin on. Y’all can disagree but I know that I am havin trouble and a lot of parents that I babysit for have a bit of trouble so yeah. Just my opinion.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy your KFC or chicken pea soup or whatever the fuck you wanna/are gonna eat. Later.

Where the heck did they get the prices for the healthy foods? the prices are way low on a lot of the items shown. Another thing is what kind of meal can you make with the ingredients shown? Maybe 2 of those pictures have ingredients for a complete meal if you ignore the fact that the necessities for cooking like oil and spices are missing. Yes you can get “healthy” ingredients cheap but in order make to complete a meal it adds up especially if you want fresh produce or quality meats and good bread that isn’t processed white goo

See also, cooking time. Like I have had days where I leave my apartment at 7:30am and don’t get home until 10pm. Sure I guess I could gnaw some broccoli raw, but I’d rather eat cooked food, and if someone else cooks it, so much the better. I do my best to eat as healthy as I can manage, but fast food is not a moral failing. Also Great Value is the Walmart* store brand yes? Which is great if you live somewhere there is a big box grocery store with it’s own cheep store brand, but food deserts are a thing.

*ok I kinda hate Walmart a lot, but I luck out in that I live in an area where I can go to a store with a similar product offering and pricing that has unionized employees. I get that sometimes it’s all you can afford.

I love when bigots say something bigoted and then point out that you’re angry at their bigotry. Like that you makes you a better person? Because you’re “unbiased” and “level headed”? I guess so since it doesn’t affect you!

Having feelings makes you wrong, you know. Giving a shit makes you morally inferior and incapable of the high virtue of being able to quote Latin phrases that make it sound like you know smart things about logic.

Apparently if you have an anxiety disorder you can go backwards in time.

Are you kidding? I can go back to that exact moment when I was 6 and I said something embarrassing any time I like.

well that’s just painfully accurate
